The Pagoda
The Seven Buddhas Great Pagoda
Sri Indaka Saman Sathbudu Maha Seya stands on the Bodhiparvatha hilltop at Kumbalwela, Ella, overlooking the hills of the Uva province.
The pagoda is dedicated to the seven Buddhas who appeared in this world-cycle: Vipassi, Sikhi, Vessabhu, Kakusandha, Konagamana, Kassapa and Gotama.
It was opened to the public on 13 August 2024, with a week of Dhamma sermons and offerings of lamps, flags, medicine, incense, milk-rice and over a thousand kilograms of flowers.
The pagoda is part of Mahamevnawa Buddhist Monastery, a worldwide Sangha community that teaches the Buddha's original teachings in the Theravada tradition.
